How to Verify meta tags for Google, Bing and Alexa


We’ve covered a lot about How to use Google webmaster tools effectively for SEO. All three have different types of verification methods like html file upload, XML upload, using domain name provider and many more, but what all have in common is Meta verification tag. This post will help you on Meta verification tags for Google, Bing and Alexa.

Verify meta tags for Google

After you add your site to Google webmaster tools you will see “verify your site” option click and check HTML verification tag method and you will see Meta tag like this

<Meta name = “google-site-verification” content = “xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx” />

What you need to do is copy and paste it into your website <head>. If you are using wordpress you can add it from your Dashboard > Appearance > Editor and select header.php and add it under <head> tag and click verify in your Google webmaster tools.

Bing Meta verification tag

In Bing webmaster tools go to “Configure my site” and there you will see “verify your site” open and you will have two options one XML and the other Meta tag verification.

You will see a Meta verification tag for Bing like this

<Meta name = “msvalidate.01″ = ” xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ” /> copy the tag and paste it below your Google verification code and verify your site on Bing.

Meta alexa verification tag

In the Alexa Dashboard you can see the “claim your site” option in site management. Open and you will be given a verification id like this

[KOGOPOP_KKNKNOpm3Ufdsfdsf_swehnyjmuy] You can use that code and paste it into your <head> or you can use code like this <meta name = “alexaVerifyID” = ” xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ” />

Note: To stay verified don’t remove this Meta tag from your website.
